Handcrafted and hand-tuned in the Koshi workshop at the foot of the French Pyrenees, tuned with reference to 440 Hz, with twelve rods instead of the eight found on the original 4 Elements Koshi chimes. The Koshi Mountain melody
Mountain has a broad, grounded and contemplative resonance. Its melody may evoke height, silence, stability and presence. The notes appear, answer one another, then slowly fade.
The melody is in E major: E E G# G# A A B B E G# A B. Four of the twelve rods are doubled at the same frequency and act as sympathetic resonators, which gives the Earth Symphony chimes their extra depth and long, immersive resonance.
All four Earth Symphony melodies share the same harmonic coherence. Mountain can be played alone or together with Forest, River and Ocean in any combination, and because it is tuned to 440 Hz it sits easily alongside other instruments or voices in a musical piece.

How to use the Koshi Mountain chime
- Basic playing: hold the chime by its cord and let it hang freely. A gentle turn of the wrist lets the central clapper set the rods in motion and release a cascade of broad, deep notes. The wider the movement, the more rods sound. A slow pendulum swing plays individual notes.
- In the wind: the chime can simply be hung outdoors or by an open window, where the breeze plays melodies of its own.
- Meditation: use Mountain to open and close a meditation session.
- Sound therapy and sound yoga: Mountain sits naturally alongside singing bowls, gongs and other harmonic instruments. It is light enough to move through the room, let the sound travel, mark a change of pace or guide listening toward silence.

What is the Koshi Mountain wind chime?
The Koshi Mountain is a handmade chime from the new Earth Symphony collection, made in the French Pyrenees. Twelve steel rods are silver-soldered to a metal plate at the base of a walnut resonance chamber and hand-tuned with reference to 440 Hz, in E major: E E G# G# A A B B E G# A B. Four of the rods are doubled at the same frequency as sympathetic resonators, which is what gives the collection its longer, deeper resonance.
What is it used for?
Mountain is used to open and close meditation, and in sound healing, sound yoga and relaxation alongside singing bowls and gongs. Because it is tuned to 440 Hz rather than the adjusted 432 Hz of the original 4 Elements line, it also accompanies other instruments and voices in musical recording without clashing. It can simply be hung outdoors, where the wind plays it.
