Koshi Forest: mystery and contemplation. The Koshi Forest chime belongs to the new Earth Symphony collection, four chimes inspired by the great presences of Nature: Mountain, Forest, River and Ocean. Handcrafted and hand-tuned in the Koshi workshop at the foot of the French Pyrenees, tuned with reference to 440 Hz, with twelve rods instead of the eight found on the original 4 Elements Koshi chimes. The Koshi Forest melody
Forest has a deep and contemplative character. Its melody is inspired by the forest as a living space and may evoke mysterious voices as much as silence. The twelve rods extend the resonance and create a dense, layered sound.
The melody is in F# minor: C# F# F# G# G# A A C# F# G# A C#. Four of the twelve rods are doubled at the same frequency and act as sympathetic resonators, which gives the Earth Symphony chimes their extra depth and long, immersive resonance.
All four Earth Symphony melodies share the same harmonic coherence. Forest can be played alone or together with Mountain, River and Ocean in any combination, and because it is tuned to 440 Hz it sits easily alongside other instruments or voices in a musical piece.

How to use the Koshi Forest chime
- Basic playing: hold the chime by its cord and let it hang freely. A gentle turn of the wrist lets the central clapper set the rods in motion and release a cascade of broad, deep notes. The wider the movement, the more rods sound. A slow pendulum swing plays individual notes.
- In the wind: the chime can simply be hung outdoors or by an open window, where the breeze plays melodies of its own.
- Meditation: use Forest to open and close a meditation session.
- Sound therapy and sound yoga: Forest sits naturally alongside singing bowls, gongs and other harmonic instruments. It is light enough to move through the room, let the sound travel, mark a change of pace or guide listening toward silence.

What is the Koshi Forest wind chime?
The Koshi Forest is a handmade chime from the new Earth Symphony collection, made in the French Pyrenees. Twelve steel rods are silver-soldered to a metal plate at the base of an oak resonance chamber and hand-tuned with reference to 440 Hz, in F# minor: C# F# F# G# G# A A C# F# G# A C#. Four of the rods are doubled at the same frequency as sympathetic resonators, which is what gives the collection its longer, deeper resonance.
